Style Battle 2012

By   /   October 10, 2012  /   No Comments

Fashion enthusiasts from all over Grand Rapids came out in their finest duds to attend Spotlight616′s 3rd Annual Style Battle last week at the Goei Center. Upon arrival, attendees were greeted by a complimentary valet service and then swept into the flurry of activity inside the venue. The interior of the Goei Center had been transformed into a fashion playground as boutiques furiously styled models, attendees mingled and the esteemed judges critiqued from afar.

This year’s competition boasted ten local boutique teams each comprised of a stylist, makeup artist, hairstylist, photographer and four models. For 3 hours, onlookers watched as models evolved into everything from avant-garde masterpieces to street-chic muses. Once hair and makeup ready, models were whisked away by their team photographer to capture their look on camera. Each team created a unique set which served as the backdrop for their model photos and reflected their individual aesthetic.

As 10pm rolled around, teams submitted their photos to the judges for a final critique and models lined up for a the runway finale. Attendees were also given the opportunity to cast their votes for the “people’s choice” winner.

The music blared as the models stomped down the runway toward the strategically-positioned panel of judges, making their last assessments. After the final walk-thru the crowd hushed and local celebrity/MC Jordan Carson announced the winners: Chantel Boutique’s Circ de Soleil as the judges’ selection and The Wolverine Store as the “people’s choice” pick.

Winners aside, Style Battle showcased some of Grand Rapid’s finest talent in both the beauty and fashion industries. Be sure to stay connected with the Matthew Agency online, as we keep you up-to-date on the latest fashion happenings in West Michigan!
